Shore power in service at Portsmouth International Port

The port's multi-berth shore power system is live, able to connect up to three ships at once.

The port describes the installation as the first multi-berth, multi-user, multi-frequency shore power system in the United Kingdom. It was funded with GBP 19.8 million from the Department for Transport and GBP 4.6 million from Portsmouth City Council, and Brittany Ferries' St Malo and Guillaume de Normandie were the first ships to connect.

The port has not said whether yachts at its quays can use the system. Large yachts have used Portsmouth International Port, and its berths are listed on the Portsmouth page.
